Carly Rae Jepsen's Sex Tape is Fake, Nude Photos Could Be Real ...

Carly Rae Jepsen is having an exceptionally good year. Her single ?Call Me, Maybe? has been covered, parodied, mashed, lampooned, and lip-synced so many times that I honestly can?t say for sure if I?ve actually seen the original video. The song has become a huge summer hit, and it doesn?t look like the ferver surrounding the tune is going to die down anytime soon. Sadly, with sudden fame often comes unexpected turmoil. In Jepsen?s case, it?s the dreaded sex tape.

A few weeks ago, nude photos began to circulate of Carly Rae Jepsen, snapshots which allegedly featured the singer brandishing her pierced nipples. As it turns out, those photos weren?t real; the images were actually of a 21-year-old Internet model who apparently has no qualms about taking her clothes off in front of the camera on a fairly regular basis. Catastrophe averted, right? Unfortunately, things only got worse from there.

On July 23rd, an alleged sex tape featuring the ?Call Me, Maybe? singer made its way online, prompting the Canadian pop star to address the leak on her Twitter page. ?Crazy morning. Discovered that someone put up a sex tape claiming to be me. Ridiculous,? she explained. ?Obviously not me.? Obviously.

Just when the nude photos and sex tape rumors had started to die down, another rears its ugly head. This time, however, the photos could be real. According to TMZ, the singer?s laptop was hacked not too long ago, and several personal images were taken as a result. As per usual, someone is attempting to shop the images to various websites, though no takers have been announced as of this writing. Authorities, meanwhile, are on the case, and if reports are telling the truth, they even have a suspect already in mind.

Considering the guy who hacked Scarlett Johansson?s phone is facing all sorts of trouble, I?m assuming Carly Rae Jepsen?s electronic intruder will face similar charges for his actions. However, here?s a good rule of thumb to live by: If you don?t want naked photos of yourself leaked onto the Internet, don?t take naked photos of yourself. Easy enough.

Think about the records, legal documents, marketing data, cash, and people found inside the walls of your business. Are you doing your best to protect them?

Here are 10 things you can do right now to secure everything from smart phones to doors. While all of these suggestions won?t apply to every company, if you work your way through this list, you?re sure to find some practical steps that you can take to protect your people and assets.

1. Use Strong Passwords

A strong password policy may be inconvenient, but it?s nowhere near as inconvenient as a data breach or a network crash. Here is a simple, three step method for creating passwords.Once you create that killer password, you?ll also find three rules for keeping it safe.

2. Control Your Keys

Do you have enforceable and up-to-date key control policies? With so much attention paid to high tech threats, it?s easy to forget that those little metal keys can make you pretty vulnerable, too.

Think about how many doors in your facility are accessed via mechanical keys. Do your entry doors require only a key to open? What about file or server rooms? Do you have expensive inventory or supplies protected by lock and key?

Mechanical keys tell no tales. If inventory or supplies go missing, you may have no way to determine who unlocked the door.

3. Erase Your Hard Drives

Before you toss out that old computer or copy machine, make sure that you erase the hard drive completely. A trashed computer is a gold mine for identity and data thieves. And many users still do not realize that their office copier stores documents on a hard drive until the files are overwritten. So unless you take the proper steps to ensure that all data has been erased from a computer or copier before it leaves your office, you may be opening the door to a security breach

4. Develop a Social Media Policy

Email and social networking have created their own category of security concerns. These technologies make it very simple to disseminate information. And once that information leaves your building, it can rarely, if ever, be recalled. Your email policy should address appropriate content for company emails and social media pages. Assume that nothing will stay private on the internet.

Here is a sample social media policy that you can use as a guide for writing your own customized document.

5. Install High Security Deadbolts

A deadbolt is a physical security standard for protecting exterior doors. Properly installed, a deadbolt will guard your doors from attack by even the most determined intruder. Here is a list of features to consider when selecting a deadbolt for your business.

6. Install an Alarm System

A modern security system, with its array of electronic components, is designed to sense, decide, and act. The security system senses events such as motion in a room, decides if the event poses a threat, and then acts on that decision. While a security system for your business isn?t a do-it-yourself affair, you should understand the language of security in order to communicate your needs to a security professional, understand any proposals you may receive, and make the most of your security system after it is installed.

This introduction to security systems takes the sense-decide-act process as an outline and describe the electronic hardware that performs each function.

7. Use Security Cameras

Security cameras are used for two basic purposes: investigation and deterrence. The images that you collect with your security cameras will most often be used to review a crime or accident so that you can understand what really happened. But the cameras themselves also have a deterrent value since people who know they are being watched are usually on their best behavior.

Pets and More Pets ? Give An Equine Supplement To Your Horse

Many horse owners provide an equine supplement for their horse without knowing actually why. Some do it just because they?re told so. Some others do this since they observe other horse owners doing it. The trouble with undertaking something uninformed is you may be providing too much or not enough of it. Should you give too little, the result of the vitamin might be negligible since the dose is very low. Give far too much and this could be the ending of the horse. So what must you do? A little research won?t be harmful. Let?s talk about vitamin A for horses.

It is really a fat-soluble, antioxidant supplement. This means that the vitamin shifts through the horse through its fat as compared with water soluble vitamins which usually move rapidly over the body. The horse gets a lot of benefits if it takes in the right amounts of vitamin A. The very first great benefit is it will help the animal?s eye function. I don?t think that possessing a blind horse who continues clashing with things is a wonderful thing to have. Apart from the eyes, vitamin A likewise helps develop truly healthy skin and hooves. Vitamin A is likewise needed to preserve healthy epithelial tissue inside the respiratory, digestive and reproductive tracts.

This means that this miracle vitamin isn?t only great for your horse?s outside features, it also helps with his insides. Besides the internal organs, the vitamin also oversees bone development in younger growing horses. So the usage of this vitamin is actually good for the horse. If you don?t give enough of this to your horse, the subsequent signs and symptoms might arise. Vitamin A deficiency with horses could cause evening blindness. Other signs or symptoms incorporate continuous shedding, constant weakness, and extreme sensitivity to light. Also search for abnormal tearing, extremely dry hair coat, anorexia, diarrhea, decreased growth, impaired mineral deposition, impaired intestinal absorption and inclination towards infections within the respiratory system and reproductive system tracts.

Keep in mind that fat-soluble vitamin supplements are stored in the body. Given that they increase over a long time, it?s possible that the horse could acquire toxicity by having excessively. This is very unlikely to happen from the normal food intake of the animal but could occur by taking in a lot of vitamin pills. So use caution when administering this vitamin to your horse. Consuming fat together with food helps with the assimilation of fat-soluble vitamins. Even so, only small quantities of fat are essential for this function. Too much Vitamin A given to horses may be known to cause the following. The horse might suffer from bone frailty. Another impact of too much of this vitamin will be the irregular growth of bone tissue. Finally, it may also lead to the sloughing off of epithelial tissue.

You are sure that the trustworthy equine supplement contains the proper amounts of vitamin A in it. So ensure that you find it from respected sellers, particularly if you are buying online. So when you obtain a good quality product, you are sure that what you?re supplying your horse is dependable. The thing is you still must know just how much to give to your horse. You could do this this by visiting your vet. He could securely examine your equine for any difficulties and he can tell you just what your horse requires and just how much vitamins he needs. With the correct information, you are certain that the horse will continue on being strong and healthy.

Equine supplement experts have a variety of tips and expert ideas on the method that you take proper care of your beloved equines while using the best equine supplements in their everyday diet regime.

China warn Olympic gold rush could slow

China fired a warning they could win a third fewer golds than at Beijing 2008 as the ex-hosts played down expectations they will top the medals table for the second Olympics running.

Deputy chef de mission Xiao Tian said statistics showed previous Games hosts shed an average of 32 percent of their gold medals at the next Olympics -- meaning China would probably fall back behind the United States.

"In Beijing we were the host country so we had 51 gold medals and 100 medals in total. Here, we're not the host country," he told journalists at London's Olympic Park.

"We made a calculation: in five past Olympics, the previous host country had a reduction of 32 percent in gold medals and medals overall.

"Therefore I don't think we'll have the same amount of medals as in Beijing. But the Chinese delegation will do its best to get its best results."

China outstripped the United States, table-toppers for the previous three Olympics, by 15 gold medals in 2008 as they became the Games' most successful nation for the first time.

By their calculations, they could now win 35 at London, one fewer than the United States amassed in 2008. However, China routinely play down their prospects before big events and such a drop would be a major surprise.

China's 396-strong team arrives in London still dominant in its key sports of diving, table tennis, badminton, shooting, weightlifting and gymnastics, but also with a stronger swim team than 2008.

Observers say China, which has extended its cooperation with foreign coaches and experts, also has strong medal chances in taekwondo, judo, women's water polo, women's volleyball, women's beach volleyball and trampoline.

According to Xiao, China's biggest weakness is in ball sports -- despite selecting NBA basketball player Yi Jianlian as their flag-bearer. They are contesting all sports apart from football, handball and the equestrian events.

"For the time being it will be very difficult to have a medal in basketball or in any ball games. That's our weakness," he admitted.

Xiao added that the Games were also an important public relations exercise for China, and he urged his athletes to show "Olympic spirit" to promote a positive national image.

"We enter the Olympics as a country. It's not as an individual or a team or a squad. It's really as a country for China," said Xiao.

"After 30 years of reforms and opening-up, China is developing, it's progressing, in every field and we would like to have... friendly exchanges so the Olympic spirit can continue to be promoted," he added.

China tells US to stop tweets on Beijing's bad air

(AP Photo/Andy Wong, File)

(AP) ? China told foreign embassies Tuesday to stop publishing their own reports on air quality in the country, escalating its objections to a popular U.S. Embassy Twitter feed that tracks pollution in smoggy Beijing.

Only the Chinese government is authorized to monitor and publish air quality information and data from other sources may not be standardized or rigorous, Wu Xiaoqing, a vice environmental minister, told reporters.

China has long taken issue with the U.S. Embassy's postings of hourly readings of Beijing's air quality on a Twitter feed with more than 19,000 followers since 2008. But its past objections were raised quietly. U.S. consulates in Shanghai and Guangzhou also post readings of the cities' air quality on Twitter.

The Twitter feeds were operating normally Tuesday, and an embassy spokesman in Beijing said the air quality reports were meant to inform Americans living in the three Chinese cities.

The air quality readings in Beijing are based on a single monitoring station within embassy grounds, and pollution levels are rated according to a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency standard that is more stringent than the one used by the Chinese government.

For instance, the U.S. Embassy on Tuesday reported 47 micrograms of fine particulate matter ? particulate matter less than 2.5 micrometers in size, or about 1/30th the width of an average human hair ? in the air and said the level was "unhealthy for sensitive groups." Readings from Beijing Environmental Protection Bureau's 27 monitoring stations ranged between 51 to 79 micrograms but categorized all those levels as "good."

The Beijing government only began reporting PM2.5 earlier this year after long-standing public and international criticism of its lack of transparency about its air quality.

The government appears frustrated that there are now dueling readings for air quality and that the U.S. readings underscore the fact that pollution levels considered unhealthy in the U.S. are classified as good by China.

Wu said it isn't fair to judge Chinese air by American standards because China is a developing country and noted that U.S. environmental guidelines have become more stringent over time.

The standard China uses "takes into account the level of our current stage of development," Wu said.

Wu also said that air quality monitoring by foreign diplomats was inconsistent with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and urged diplomats to abide by China's laws and regulations.

It is unclear if other nations monitor and publicize their readings of air quality in Chinese cities, but local Chinese have used the U.S. readings to prod their government into publishing more detailed pollution data.

Later, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Weimin echoed Wu's remarks, saying at a regular press briefing that China objected to the publicity rather than the gathering of the environmental data.

"Of course, if the foreign embassies want to collect air quality information for their own staff or diplomats, I think that is their own matter, but we believe that this type of information should not released to the public," Liu said.

The top environmental official in Shanghai over the weekend also spoke out on the issue, telling local media that an air quality feed launched last month by the U.S. consulate in Shanghai was illegal.

The U.S. Embassy said the air quality monitor in Shanghai measures the air quality in the area around the consulate's office. "The monitor is an unofficial resource for the health of the consulate community," said Richard Buangan, embassy spokesman in Beijing.

China requires concentrations of PM2.5 to be kept below daily averages of 75 micrograms per cubic meter ? more than twice as lenient as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's standard of 35 micrograms.

PM2.5 are believed to be a health risk because they can lodge deeply in the lungs, and have been linked to increased cardiovascular and respiratory diseases as well as lung cancer.

Daily Chronicle | Donations breathe life into pets

Inside a cage at the DeKalb County Animal Shelter last week, a tired-looking black labradoodle with a small burn mark on his nose wagged his tail when he saw his owner, Jonathan Johnson.

Proto almost didn?t survive a fire May 24 in Johnson?s downtown Sycamore apartment; two cats and a turtle died. But Proto and other cats were revived with pet oxygen masks, which were donated to the Sycamore Fire Department.

?I?m just glad that the fire department had them,? Johnson said. ?Those masks are probably what saved [the animals].?

The masks were donated by Terry Delcore, a DeKalb resident and cat owner who saw an ad on TV for pet oxygen masks and was inspired to donate the kits to local fire departments in the past couple of years. Kits include small, medium and large oxygen masks designed especially for pets.

?It makes me feel good to know that something I donated really works,? she said.

The Sycamore Fire Department has pet oxygen masks on each engine and ambulance, said Assistant Chief Marc Doty. They?re not used often, but they play an important role when they are needed.

When Sycamore Fire Lt. Paul Rubeck entered the apartment above the Sycamore Moose Lodge in the 300 block of West State Street, he found plenty of smoke and Proto in a pet cage. Johnson and his fiancee, Peipei Lu, were not home.

Rubeck couldn?t see the dog until he was about four inches from his face. Proto wasn?t breathing, so Rubeck carried the dog out of the apartment and laid him on a cool spot on the ground.

?That was about the end of him,? Rubeck said.

But after Rubeck put the pet oxygen mask over Proto?s mouth and nose and pressed on the dog?s chest for about five minutes, Proto began to breathe and gasp for air.

Two other dogs, Auto and Chewy, and two cats, Lego and Diesel, made it safely out of the apartment. The animals were turned over to DeKalb County Animal Control and treated at a local veterinary clinic. Firefighters used the masks on two other cats, but the attempts were not successful.

With the temperature in the apartment and the amount of smoke, Rubeck said the animals that survived wouldn?t have lasted much longer.

?I really didn?t know if that dog was going to make it,? Rubeck said. ?That oxygen mask saved him. It really did.?

Delcore has donated the pet oxygen masks to DeKalb, Cortland, Genoa-Kingston, Malta and Sycamore fire departments. Each department also was given a pet first-aid kit. Additionally, Delcore said she?s given masks to DeKalb police.

?I?m an animal lover all the way around,? Delcore said.

The pet masks are necessary because it?s not healthy for firefighters to use mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on an animal. DeKalb Interim Fire Chief Eric Hicks said the mask is more of a cone shape, so it fits better over the snout of a pet.

Delcore said she wanted to ensure local fire departments had enough masks in case of an emergency. She?s happy to see them used to save any animal?s life.

?They?re basically helpless because the animals are inhaling smoke just as humans are,? she said. ?... It?s something that was needed and no one thinks about.?

Hicks said DeKalb fire has had to use the kits twice in 2012, including a May fire in Tilton Park in which several pets were at a house that caught fire.

Unlike humans, pets usually cannot easily escape from a burning structure and can become overcome by the smoke, Hicks said.

Bruce Kozlowski, chief of the Genoa-Kingston Fire Protection District, said the same oxygen used for humans is used for pets. The district has not had to use the masks thus far.

?We like having them,? he said. ?With as many pets that we have in our area, if we have had to use them, it?s good to have.?

Although he?s grateful for Delcore?s donation and the pets that were saved, Johnson and Lu are missing those that didn?t make it.

?It?s really hard not to have them all,? he said. ?The animals are our kids.?

What to know about the Wisconsin recall vote

Q: What started the effort to recall Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker?

A: The recall effort was born Feb. 11, 2011. That was when Walker released his plan to address a state budget shortfall that called on most public workers to pay more for health insurance and pension benefits, and, most important, give up nearly all their collective bargaining rights. The proposal set the recall fire, led to protests that lasted weeks and grew as large as 100,000 people. It motivated 14 Senate Democrats to flee the state for three weeks in a vain attempt to stop the bill. Walker signed it into law March 11 virtually unchanged from how he proposed it.

Q: Isn't this unusual? How often do governors face recalls?

A: This is the third recall election of a governor in U.S. history. The other two were successful in throwing the incumbent out of office ? against California Gov. Gray Davis in 2003 and North Dakota Gov. Lynn Frazier in 1921.

Q: If there's an effort to kick Walker out of office, does that mean his approval rating is low?

A: The recall is more a result of how divided the state is over Walker and his policies. His approval rating among Wisconsin respondents in the most recent Marquette University Law School poll was 51 percent, just 1 percentage point less than President Barack Obama's.

Q: Who's footing the bill for the recall campaigns? Taxpayers? Or someone else?

A: There has been much ado about all the campaign money flowing into Wisconsin from out of state, and for good reason. The recall election has been unlike anything seen before in Wisconsin, with at least $62 million spent by the candidates and outside groups so far. Walker was the top spender at $29 million, with Democrats including Barrett spending about $4 million. Outside groups have spent $21 million and issue ad groups that don't have to disclose their spending have put in at least $7.5 million. That, of course, is donated money. Taxpayers are anything but off the hook. The recall and a primary for it are special elections that otherwise would not be held. State elections officials estimate the cost of a statewide election to taxpayers is $9 million, for a total of $18 million.

Q: How has the economy played into the campaign? What are the candidates pledging to do to create jobs?

A: The recall may have started over collective bargaining, but the overriding issue has become job creation. Walker promised in 2010 to create 250,000 jobs over four years and he is not on pace to meet that goal. How far afield he is depends on what set of numbers are used to measure his promise. Monthly jobs figures, based on a survey of about 3.5 percent of Wisconsin employers, show job creation is flat since Walker took office. But a combination of data, including 2011 numbers derived from a more comprehensive census of employers, shows about 33,000 new jobs have been created in Walker's term.

Barrett, meanwhile, has been more vague, something Walker has used against him. Barrett has said he will adopt a comprehensive jobs agenda that emphasizes manufacturing, small business, clean energy, venture capital, high-tech and bio tech and our agricultural rural economy. He has criticized Walker for making jobs secondary to attacks on public employee unions.

Q: Is Walker the only politician on the ballot facing a recall? What about people who supported him?

A: The Walker-Barrett race is in the national spotlight for obvious reasons, but also on the ballot are recall elections for GOP Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch, who faces Democrat Mahlon Mitchell, and four GOP state Senate seats. If Democrats can win any one of those seats, they will hold a majority in the Senate for the first time since 2010 and could obstruct any further advancement of Walker's agenda if he wins.

Q. If someone does not like the results, can there be another recall?

A. Wisconsin law allows for recalls of anyone who has been in office for at least a year. The winner will serve the remainder of Walker's current term, which runs through 2014. Office holders can only stand for recall once per term, so if Walker wins he will remain in office at least through 2014.

Q. Will turnout be an indicator of an outcome?

A. Turnout is key for both Walker and Barrett in a race that polls show has few undecided voters. Walker must pull strongly from Republican parts of the state, primarily in the conservative Milwaukee suburbs. Barrett needs to do well with his base in Madison and Milwaukee and keep Walker's margin of victory low in the Republican-leaning Fox Valley area around Green Bay. The election, if it's close, could be won or lost based on how well the candidates do in western Wisconsin in swing counties along the Mississippi border, as well as other swing parts of the state like in Racine County south of Milwaukee.

Q. What happens Wednesday?

A. If Walker wins the recall, little will change. He will remain governor, and Barrett will remain mayor of Milwaukee. However, if Barrett wins, Walker will remain in office for only a short time. The state elections board has just 18 days to issue a certificate declaring the election results official. When that's done, he is no longer governor.
